Hotel Indigo Exeter
The neighbourhood of adaptation, inspiration and contemplation perched on the River Exe.
The historic centre of Exeter was once described as the Jewel of the West. In the heart of the city centre, Hotel Indigo Exeter has been lovingly restored and converted from its department store origins. This hotel was once the home of Colson’s, a department store opened in 1792 by local milliner Mrs Colson, who became one of the cities most loved characters. From Colson’s to Dingles, to House of Fraser and now Hotel Indigo Exeter. Staying true to its roots the hotel takes its design inspiration from the building’s department store past and other notable neighbourhood sites as each of the 104 rooms are style to honour elements of the city. With added luxury amenities like Egyptian cotton linens, spa-inspired bathrooms, and 40-inch flatscreen TVs, this is the perfect place to explore the sights and sounds of the city.

The Brief
Siemlus were approached by Castlebridge in need of a company to design, install and support a range of their technology aspects around the property.
Siemlus knew this would be a huge task as this would be the first of many properties in which all delivery services would be installed. From structured IT which would allow guests to gain access to TV’s, Wi-Fi, phones & background music to fitting RFID door locks, safes & mini bars the team managed to create a seamless experience for the client
Our Approach
This was a huge task for Siemlus and one we were keen to show our expertise and skills. From working with all contractors, designers and operators, from the very beginning of this development Siemlus was an integral part of the refurb phase and opening. The team had knowledge of the building having originally being owned by Colson’s meaning the team understood how much this piece of history meant to the client.
The Delivery
Discovery
We worked closely with owners, operators, designers, electrical contrators, main contractors and more, to supply and offer our services and expertise.
Technology
Even with a few other technology companies providing telecoms, IT and more, by the time the hotel was open a year.
Support
One of the key objectives which was achieved was the ability for Siemlus to completely take over, manage, and support every single data and technology element for this property, something we believe is a first in the industry.
“Siemlus are the key technology provider for this hotel installation and for group-wide support and we are very proud to have Siemlus as Castlebridge hospitality’s preferred technology services partner.
